About Bar Harbor Ghost Tours
Original, Award Winning, Locally Owned & Operated

Bar Harbor Ghost Tours was founded on a simple belief:
Stories matter — and how they are told matters even more.
We are Maine’s only Indigenous-owned ghost tour company and the only tour in the state sharing verified authentic Wabanaki spirit stories alongside documented haunted history.
Our connection to this region is not seasonal.
It is not performative.
It is not constructed for tourism.
It is lived.

Long before Bar Harbor became a summer destination for America’s elite, this land carried stories. The Wabanaki people have passed down spirit traditions for generations — not as entertainment, but as teaching, remembrance, and cultural continuity.

We tell those stories with context.
With permission.
With responsibility.

Alongside those traditions, we share researched, documented accounts from Bar Harbor’s Gilded Age, the Great Fire of 1947, and the historic buildings that still stand today.

We do not invent legends to fill time.
We preserve what belongs here.

That distinction is why Bar Harbor Ghost Tours has been recognized nationally and named among the best ghost tours in the United States for eight consecutive years.

Our Two Distinct Experiences:

The Bar Harbor Ghost Tour
Our original lantern-lit walking tour guides guests through historic downtown Bar Harbor. Storytellers dressed in 19th-century mourning attire lead you through documented hauntings, layered local history, and authentic spirit traditions.
It is immersive without being theatrical.
Engaging without being sensationalized.
Grounded without being dry.

The Haunted Mansion Tour
Step inside a preserved Gilded Age mansion for a rare interior haunted experience.
This is not a walking tour. It is an intimate exploration of architecture, history, reported paranormal activity, and the social realities behind Bar Harbor’s summer estates.
We maintain small groups to protect both the property and the experience.
$10 from every standard ticket supports the Bar Harbor Historical Society and preservation efforts.

Why Authenticity Matters
In a town as beloved as Bar Harbor, many stories are told.
But authenticity is not something that can be recreated through research alone.
It is carried.

Our role is not simply to entertain.
It is to protect and present stories responsibly — with cultural grounding, historical accuracy, and respect for the communities connected to them.

When guests say they “felt the difference,” this is what they mean.
We are not borrowing Maine’s voice.
We are part of it.
Bar Harbor Ghost Tours began in 2013 and is a 100% Native American owned company (Mi'kmaq, to be exact). We are family operated and proud to be a woman-owned business in Maine as well as the only Wabanaki owned tour company in the state. Our specialty is telling the story of Maine from both the indigenous Wabanaki and Euro-American perspectives by leading haunted, historic, and cultural tours.
