We are working hard to keep you safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not because we have to, but because we want to!

In order to maintain compliance with the safety guidelines mandated by the State of Maine and CDC we have made some changes to our operating procedures and the policy is always under review and subject to change during these difficult times. These changes are as follows:

  • Per CDC guidelines, you do not have to wear face masks if you are vaccinated. Some of our guides will still be wearing theirs.

  • Everyone must maintain social distancing procedures (6 feet apart) unless you are from the same household. We have heard there should be enough space to put a moose between you and another person if that helps. It does for us. We like moose.

  • We will have hand sanitizer available. Killing germs is becoming a new sport!

  • Tour sizes are going to be smaller and on select days. We recommend getting your tickets as far in advance as possible. Seriously, we can't stress this enough. No fisticuffs in the streets.

  • We have moved to a reservation only system to make the process hands-free. You will be provided with e-tickets in your email confirmation upon purchase. Can you hear us kicking and screaming? Fair-thee-well, oh walk-up tour goer and paper tickets. Thou wilt be missed quite grievously.

  • We will not have interior access to the 1932 Criterion Theatre for 2020 & 2021. We may need smelling salts and a nice fainting couch over the loss of our beloved theatre, but do not fret! We will still visit the site and tell our ghastly tales within arms-reach of the ghosts therein.

  • There will be no Snack & Scare Packages for 2020 & 2021. We are awash with grief at this development and will miss the soft crunching in the darkened shadows...or was that the ancient forest spirits eating their latest victim?

  • Any add-ons (t-shirts, stickers, magnets, etc.) will be mailed separately when purchased from our website. The Wikl'atmuj (Little People) sometimes put weird things in packages. Just roll with it.

  • Some of our tours are going digital! Our new tour app will be loaded on the website soon. Of all the changes, we are most excited about the opportunity for you to run willy-nilly, hither and yon to some of the great haunted spots in Maine.

  • Please provide your own umbrellas if it is rainy/misty.  If you don't like the weather in Maine, wait five minutes. We've seen it snow in July.
