Original Bar Harbor Ghost Tour -
When the town finally goes dark

Our blue light lantern tour begins at 8:00 PM, when the streets quiet down and Bar Harbor’s haunted history is best experienced.

Many ghost tours begin while the town is still bright and busy.

The Original Bar Harbor Ghost Tour begins later in the evening so guests can experience the historic district as it grows quiet and shadowed.

Led by guides carrying our signature blue lanterns, this tour explores the haunted side of Bar Harbor through documented local stories, eyewitness encounters, and the only verified authentic Wabanaki spirit stories presented on a ghost tour in Maine.

The Most Authentic Ghost Tour in Bar Harbor

The Original Bar Harbor Ghost Tour invites you to explore the haunted side of this famous seaside town as your guide leads you through dimly lit streets by the glow of our signature Blue Lantern. Along the way you will hear documented local hauntings, personal accounts of unexplained encounters, and the only verified authentic Wabanaki spirit stories presented on a ghost tour in Maine. Bar Harbor Ghost Tours is Maine’s only Indigenous-owned ghost tour company, and our storytelling reflects a deep respect for the history and traditions of this place.

Some ghost tours rely on legends or theatrical inventions. This tour is built on local history, eyewitness experiences, and stories preserved by generations of Bar Harbor residents.

What You May Experience on the Tour

During this lantern-lit walking tour through downtown Bar Harbor you may:

• Visit several locations known for unusual activity
• Hear more than a dozen stories of ghostly encounters connected to the town’s past
• Learn how investigators classify different types of hauntings
• Listen to a recorded Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) captured from a resident spirit
• Walk to the historic Old Burial Ground, one of the town’s oldest resting places
• Hear ancient Wabanaki spirit stories rarely shared with visitors

Guests frequently report unusual photographs taken during the tour, including orbs, shadow figures, and unexplained light formations at several well-known locations. While no paranormal experience can ever be promised, many guests enjoy reviewing their photos afterward to see what may have appeared.

Small Group Experience

To preserve the atmosphere of the tour, group size is limited to 28 guests. Tours often sell out during peak travel months, and advance reservations are strongly recommended.
